You can spend this time at your vacation rental watching the rain from a comfortable couch on the deck.

With only two seasons that average highs of 76-78F in the summer, and 66-67F in the winter, San Diego is a perfect vacation destination. During March and April and September to November you can visit and avoid the crowds that come to California during the summer months.

Things usually clear up by the afternoon, but occasionally the fog lasts all day, making a trip to the beach a damp and chilly affair.

September and October in San Diego are the fall months when air temperatures drop, but not by much averaging from 75F to 65F.
This is the perfect season to shoot 18 holes at the many world-renowned golf courses in the area or take a hike at Annie's Canyon Trail or San Elijo Lagoon Nature Center.

Winters in San Diego don't get to harsh, but the weather is not fit for water sports anymore. December through February averages highs of 65 degrees and overnight lows of about 50 degrees. Just like the rest of the year, the winter season brings its own fun activities that you can enjoy.

Balboa Park's December Nights is one of Balboa Park's longest-running and most popular events. Displaying colorful light, featuring dozens of bands, choirs, and dancers, and offering a large array of delicious food this event takes place in one of the first weekends of December.

Go whale watching. December to April is San Diego's gray whale watching season. Each year, over 20,000 gray whales make their way from Alaska to Baja California and then head back north again in the spring. Mature gray whales are the width of a basketball court and travel about five knots (or six miles) an hour and you can catch a glimpse of their migration.
Witness the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights. This free event is organized by the San Diego boating community. Each year, they decorate around 80 boats with dazzling lights following a different specific theme.
