Go whale watching.December to April is San Diego's gray whale watching season. Each year, over 20,000 gray whales make their way from Alaska to Baja California, and then head back north again in the spring. Mature gray whales are the width of a basketball court and travel about five knots (or six miles) an hour and you can catch a glimpse of their migration.
Witness the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights. This free event is organized by the San Diego boating community. Each year, they decorate around 80 boats with dazzling lights following a different specific theme.
