Summertime in San Diego, months June through August are the warmest in the area. Winters in San Diego don't get to harsh, but the weather is not fit for water sports anymore. December through February averages highs of 65 degrees and overnight lows of about 50 degrees. Just like the rest of the year, the winter season brings its own fun activities that you can enjoy.

Balboa Park's December Nights is one of Balboa Park's longest-running and most popular events. Displaying colorful light, featuring dozens of bands, choirs, and dancers, and offering a large array of delicious food this event takes place in one of the first weekends of December.

Go whale watching. December to April is San Diego's gray whale watching season. Each year, over 20,000 gray whales make their way from Alaska to Baja California and then head back north again in the spring. Mature gray whales are the width of a basketball court and travel about five knots (or six miles) an hour and you can catch a glimpse of their migration.
Witness the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights. This free event is organized by the San Diego boating community. Each year, they decorate around 80 boats with dazzling lights following a different specific theme.
Go ice skating at the Hotel Del Coronado. Yes, that right, ice skating in San Diego! Whether you live in a place that gets plenty of snow, or you've never seen snow before, it is always fun to ice skate surrounded by palm trees.
